PA announces team for talks with UNP

The ruling People’s Alliance named a six-member delegation today to have talks with the main opposition United National Party to explore the formation of a government of consensus.

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake informing the Leader of the Opposition of this decision has suggested that since all members of the PA delegation were not available today, the meeting could take place on Saturday, the 25^th August at 10.00 a.m. at a mutually agreed venue. The Prime Minister has also agreed that the proposed discussion be conducted within an agreed time frame.

The PA delegation approved by President Chandrika Kumaratunga consists of seven cabinet ministers; D.M Jayaratne, Mahinda Rajapakse, Anuruddha Ratwatte, Nimal Siripala de Silva, Mangala Samaraweera and Lakshman Kadirgamar.
