A group of Sri Lankan companies is set to open a Trade Centre in Dubai to assist Sri Lankan export companies. Through the new venture is expected to give an opportunity to exporters to display their products and information on export items free of charge. The proposed Trade Centre will be located in Central Deira in Dubai, two kilometres from the Dubai Airport and five kilometres from Dubai Port. The UAE has a per capita income of USD 18,700 - one of the world’s highest - along with a sizeable annual trade surplus. “The Ministry of Industrial Development and the Export Development Board (EDB) have approved this project,” said Suranjith Premadasa, Chairman, Premadasa Group of Companies (Pvt.) Ltd., promoters of the project.
