Gujarat Ambuja Cements Limited is to set up a five hundred thousand tonne capacity grinding unit in the southern port city of Galle. The company will pump in 1.5 billion Indian Rupees into this unit where clinker sent from India would be ground to make cement. The unit is expected to arrive in the island shortly. The company set up a packaging unit with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes per month last year at a cost of 800 million Indian Rupees.
