Special Polio immunisation campaign in North & East

The Ministry of Health with the assistance form World Health Organisation [WHO] has made arrangements to conduct a special polio immunisation campaign in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

The first phase of this sub-national immunisation campaign will be on 22^nd September and the second phase will take place on 20^th October.

The earlier national immunisation campaigns were unable to cover these areas in the Northern and Eastern Provinces. Thus a considerable number of children under the age of five have been left out of the programme. 

45,000 children below the age of five are expected to be immunised at 253 centres In the Trincomalee District.
