Pandit Amaradeva honoured for excellence

Pandit Amaradeva received the Ramon Magsaysay Award – Asia’s Nobel Prize, for excellence in Journalism, Literature and Creative Communications Arts, Friday night in Manila.      

As a musician he has promoted peace through music and entertained fans for over 50 years. A warm welcome awaits him on his return to Sri Lanka next week.

He is the eighth Sri Lankan to receive a Ramon Magsaysay Award since the awards were established more than forty years ago.
