The Indian Government has decided to donate money, dry rations, food and essential items to the drought stricken in Sri Lanka. The High Commissioner for India, Gopal Krishna Gandhi, on behalf of the Indian Government handed over the sum of Rs. 2.24 million (USD 24, to the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, yesterday at President’s House. Receiving the donation, the President conveyed her high appreciation of the gesture by India, as it had come at a time when India was also affected by floods and a drought.
