Bank of Ceylon, the premier state owned bank in Sri Lanka has been ranked 320 among the top 500 Commercial Banks in Asia by Asiaweek magazine. The magazine’s Financial 500 which lists the region’s largest banks, the Bank of Ceylon was ranked 331 in 2000. The Financial 500 has listed Bank of Ceylon as the top bank in Sri Lanka. Four privately owned commercial banks, the Hatton National Bank, Seylan Bank, Commercial Bank of Ceylon and Sampath Bank are also among the top 500 banks in Asia. The Bank Of Tokyo-Mitsubishi has topped the list for the second consecutive year.
