Sri Lanka among top 20 FDI recipients in Asia

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has identified Sri Lanka as one of the top 20 economies in Asia and the Pacific, attracting more foreign direct investment.

Last year the total foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow into Sri Lanka was USD 217 million, an increase of USD 30 million compared to the previous year, World Investment Report 2001 published by UNCTAD said.

The Board of Investment has signed 10 agreements during the month of August this year, amounting to an estimated total investment of Rs. 1,599 million of which Rs. 1,233 consists of foreign investment.
