Parliament approves amendment to Constitution

In a landmark vote, Sri Lanka’s Parliament Tuesday passed by a two-thirds majority a bill to amend the constitution.

208 of the 225 members of Parliament voted in favour at the third reading of the amendment to establish independent commissions to administer the Police, Judiciary, Public Service and Elections.
