The United Nation’s Women’s Guild in Sri Lanka is raising new funds to help needy children in the country especially those who are victims of the eighteen-year ethnic war.

The guild, which was established in New York in 1948, has been active in Sri Lanka for over 25 years.

The thirty Sri Lankan Guild members are mainly spouses of present and retired UN professionals.

This year the Guild is planning to hold a fund raising campaign with a Sri Lankan evening on November 8. Ravibandhu Vidyapathi, the renowned dancer will perform at this event.

The present Chairperson of the guild, Mrs. Lesley Cruickshank said that she planned to develop identified orphanages in Panadura, Kalutara and Trincomalee once the funds were in place.
