Sri Lanka is to establish an Internet Portal with the aim of overcoming the obstacles faced by the developing countries in an information driven world economy.
The agreement with the World Bank for the Infodev Country Development Gateway Project in Sri Lanka was signed between the World Bank and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, recently.
The Development Gateway will help countries realize the potential of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICTs) by building a strong online network of local, regional, and global development communities.
The proposed gateway would provide an ideal opportunity for stakeholders in Sri Lanka with access to a rich source of information. It will also assist in promoting interaction between individuals and organizations.
