Sri Lanka among the top three world tea producers

Sri Lanka is among the world’s top three black tea producers in the world, said the Asia Siyaka Report [ASR]. 

India and Kenya are the other two countries.  Sri Lankan tea is expected to account for 70% of world tea production in 2010. 

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka reported that Sri Lanka’s black tea production last year amounted to 306 million kilos, and is expected to project its production up to 329,000 metric tons (MT) by 2010.
