Poverty Conference begins next week [October 20, 2001 -9:45 GMT]

The Poverty Conference, a joint initiative of the Micro Finance Network [MFN] and the Social Mobilisation Network [SMN] has been organised to mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. 

This year’s conference aims to make a significant substantive input to the national policy and programmes for poverty reduction currently being undertaken by the government. 

The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, which was on October 17. The Conference jointly organised by the Ministry of Samurdhi and the United Nations Development Programme [UNDP], will be held on October 22-23, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo.
