A consortium has been established to reconstruct the Bamiyan Buddha statue using the latest technology. A model of the Buddha statue, approximately six metres high will be rebuilt at the Afghanistan Museum in Bubendorf, Switzerland. Experts from German, Austrian and Swiss universities are planning to make a 3-D representation of the statues with computers, using existing surveyor records with the collaboration of the global heritage Internet society www.new7wonders.org “This project will send a clear signal that in future an act of international destruction cannot erase the memory of those things which are valuable to humanity and its heritage,” Bernard Weber, founder of New7Wonder society said.
