“Germany is Sri Lanka’s fourth largest investor with about 170 projects valued at around twelve billion rupees,” Minister of Foreign Affairs Lakshman Kadiragamar said recently. “Germany today is also Sri Lanka’s third largest trading partner,” he said. The Minister was speaking at a dinner in honour of visiting former German President Richa Freiherr von Weizsacker on October 30. “Many German companies have taken advantage of our liberalized economy and incentives to invest here,” he added. He also said that Germany was assisting in the fields of science and technology in Sri Lanka and that German Development Assistance was playing a significant role in the economic progress of the country.
