The road opposite Temple Trees is to be re-opened tomorrow. This road between the Kollupitiya Junction and Rotunda Gardens in Colombo was closed for two-way traffic since 1996 after the LTTE attacked the Central Bank in Colombo. President Kumaratunga occupied Temple Trees, the official residence of the Prime Minister until the beginning of this year. She shifted to the President’s House in Colombo Fort this year making way for the Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake to occupy the official residence. “This decision is very great as far as our business is concerned” said, Micheal Silva, Manager of the Colombo Swimming Club situated just opposite. A spokesman for the Hotel Lanka Oberoi situated in the vicinity also welcomed the decision.
