CBK congratulates new Bangladeshi President

President Chandrika Kumaratunga, the current head of SAARC has sent a congratulatory message to President A Q Badruddoza Chowdry on his election to the high office and referred to the close ties between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Please accept, Excellency, my warmest congratulations and sincere best wishes on your recent election to the office of President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

Your election to this highest office indicates the trust and confidence the representatives of the people of Bangladesh have placed in your wise leadership and integrity. It is also recognition of your long service to the nation in various capacities.

The close friendship between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh has been strengthened by our cooperation in important multilateral fora and especially our association in the SAARC. I look forward to working with you closely to further develop our political and economic relations for the continued progress and prosperity of the peoples of our two countries.
