The Committee appointed to probe post-election violence on PA supporters handed over some 2000 complaints to the IGP yesterday. The committee comprises Ministers Karunasena Kodituwakku and John Amaratunga, D. M. Jayaratne, PA General Secretary, Lucky Kodituwakku, Inspector General of Police and DIGs. H. M. G. B. Kotakadeniya and Gamini Navaratne. The DIGs were entrusted with the task of sorting and distributing the complaints while any future complaints too will be handled in the same manner. The UNF government appointed the committee following the discussions between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and Opposition Leader Ratnasiri Wickremanayake. PA group of MPs earlier wrote to President Kumaratunga that organised groups were continuing to attack People’s Alliance supporters after the General Elections on December 5.
