Norwegian peace delegation arrives in Colombo

A three member Norwegian delegation arrived in Colombo Thursday morning.

The delegation headed by the Norwegian State Secretary Vidar Helgesen is due to hold discussions with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe today in connection with Norway’s role as facilitator for political negotiations between the government and the LTTE.

The other delegates are Erik Solheim and Executive Officer Mrs. Kjersti Tromsdal.

As a goodwill measure, both the government and the LTTE declared a month long ceasefire from December 24 2001.
