First Sri Lankan art exhibition in UN Hall

Jayasiri Semage, a veteran Sri Lankan artist will exhibit his exclusively drawn traditional paintings at the UN Hall in Geneva from January 30 to February 8.

Semage, as an artist, enjoys a pre-eminent place in both the local and international scenes. He is well known as an artist with an outstanding Sri Lankan touch. His creations may be seen in the Buddhist Viharas of Malaysia, Singapore and Penang. He has had over 10 solo-exhibitions, both locally and abroad, from Spain and USSR, to Japan and Korea.

This is the first time a Sri Lankan will hold an exhibition in the UN Hall. Works of world famous artists like Pablo Picasso and Michaelangelo have been exhibited at the this venue before.

The self-taught artist born in a small fishing village in southern Sri Lanka, will present one of his paintings depicting a Sri Lankan village scene to the United Nations Organisation for permanent display at the UN’s main hall.
