The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) is to build a new Trade Portal. The new Portal will be more than just a showcase for Sri Lankan companies, as it would enable them to sell their products on-line. “Our objective is not just to provide another channel for Sri Lankan companies to market their products but also to get them engaged in the idea of e-business,” the EDB Executive Director Dr. Lalith Gamage said. The Portal would provide a great opportunity to e-business for the small and medium scale enterprises (SME’s) that cannot afford to run a personal web site. The EDB has invited Affno to build the new Trade Portal. Affno’s CEO Suren Kannangara said, “We are very enthused to be entrusted to build Sri Lanka’s official Gateway for Business.” “It is a ‘big’ order as the Portal is patronised and supported by the Sri Lankan Government,” he added. The new portal will represent a significant change in Trade Net – EDB’s current Trade Portal.
