ADB to assist Sri Lanka’s rural economy

Sri Lanka signed a loan agreement worth US$ 25 million with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a project to stimulate economic growth in the Southern Sri Lanka.

This Southern Province rural economic advancement project will help potential entrepreneurs to identify opportunities in agriculture-based enterprises and provide them with access to technology, markets and credit.

The total project cost is estimated at US$ 42.7 million. The National Development Bank will serve as the apex for the financial services component.
