Holcim and Puttlam cement million Dollar merger

Holcim International, the second largest cement company in the world, has invested US$ 3.5 million to upgrade the local cement plant in Puttlam. 

Puttlam cement company Ltd. [PCCL] has changed its corporate identity into Holcim Lanka Ltd. Holcim, which was earlier known as Holderbank in Switzerland is a global player with strong market presence in over 70 countries on all continents.

Puttlam Cement is the second partner in Asia after Bangladesh to join the Holder Bank family. “With the new identity we will have more financial gain as now we are linked to the global family. But we will continue to produce cement under the same brand name “Sanstha”, a spokesperson for Holcim Lanka said. 

At present the Puttlam Cement Company Ltd [PCCL] holds over 36% of the market share in Sri Lanka.
