In a press release issued on Wednesday the Ministry of Defence announced the relaxation of several restrictions imposed on fishermen operating in the sea between Thondamanaru and Point Pedro. According to the release, non-mechanized boats will be permitted to fish daily and up to a distance of 1 ½ km on Sundays from 4:30 a.m. to 6.p.m. Fishermen would be allowed to engage in fishing using throwing nets, in depths up to waist level.
