“Govt considers three main issues” - Prof. G. L. Peiris

Cabinet Spokesman Prof. Peiris said that the Government had given serious consideration to three main areas, i.e. humanitarian issues, day-to-day security issues and monitoring arrangements in a draft agreement being worked out on a formal ceasefire with the LTTE.

“The Norwegian delegation held talks with Anton Balasingham, the LTTE theoretician in London en route to Colombo on the declaration and the proposed Memorandum of Understanding”, Prof G. L. Peiris said at the weekly Cabinet Press Briefing.

The Norwegian peace delegation shares a lighter moment with President Kumaratunga and Prime Minister Wickremasinghe at a reception to commemorate Sri Lanka’s 54th anniversary of Independence at President’s House, Colombo, Thursday.
