Sri Lankan essential oils for French perfumes
[February 11, 2002 - 11.00 GMT]

Sri Lanka’s potential in the export of essential oils was displayed when the finding of a study mission sent to Sri Lanka was presented recently in Paris.

The event was jointly organised by the Association of French Perfume Manufacturers and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris.

Nearly 200 well-known French and internationally reputed brands of perfume and cosmetic companies such as Christian Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Yves Rocher, L’O real, Lolita Lempicka, Takasago and Shiseido took part in the event.

A special perfume, The Spirit of Sri Lanka, produced by the French Perfumers Association by using Sri Lankan essential oils to mark the occasion was presented to mark the event.

The French perfume industry continues to source the bulk of its cinnamon bark oil and cardamom oil requirements from Sri Lanka whereas the USA remains the number one buyer for cinnamon leaf and citronella oils.
