Government yesterday announced the immediate lifting of travel restrictions to the Jaffna peninsula. Sri Lankans, foreign nationals and Colombo-based diplomats will be allowed free access to areas held by the LTTE, the defence ministry said in a press release. However, “Any Sri Lankan, non-Sri Lankan, Diplomat or anyone visiting uncleared areas will do so at his/her own risk,” the release added.
