Vienna Boys Choir to perform in Colombo

Music lovers in Sri Lanka will get the opportunity to enjoy the music of world famous Vienna Boys Choir on March 27 and 28.

The public concerts in Colombo will be held at the Hotel Hilton on March 27. There will also be a school show at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on March 28.

The choir originated over five centuries ago in 1498 under the patronage of Emperor Maximillian. Having achieved fame as "Austria's singing ambassadors", the Vienna Boys Choir now consists of four separate choirs and gives guest performances in the most famous concert halls of the world. 

Among its famous choristers were Fransz Schubert, the Haydn Brothers and Hans Ritcher. Renowned composers like Mozart, Salieri and Bruckner worked with the choir.
