The Ministry of Defence (MOD) yesterday announced the immediate lifting of restrictions on the transfer of medicines and equipment to the north. ”Accordingly, no control will be placed on quantity or its brand. However stocks of medicine and equipment thus transported will be monitored at the checkpoints for security reasons”, the Sri Lanka Army website reported. The government last Monday relaxed restrictions on travel to Jaffna by air and sea.
