Asian Regional Conference opens in Colombo

President
Chandrika Kumaratunga will inaugurate the seventeenth Interpol Asian
Regional Conference today at the BMICH
in Colombo. More than 100 police delegates from various countries the
Conference hosted by the Sri
Lanka Police.
Interpol
with 179 nations, supports co-operation between the police in all nations
in the world in fighting international crimes, including terrorism and
drug trafficking.
Once
in every two years, the 47 nations of the Asian Region of Interpol get
together to discuss common policing problems and to consider ways of
improving international police co-operation in the region.
