ILO to establish links with local entrepreneurs
[February 20, 2002 - 9.30 GMT]

The Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) project of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Sri Lanka seeks to establish collaborative linkages with local Business Development Services organizations.

The overall objective of the ILO-SIYB is to contribute to economic growth, private sector development and employment creation in Sri Lanka.

The SIYB Sri Lanka trains trainers in local Business Development Services organizations on how to deliver basic business start-up and management training for small-scale entrepreneurs using the globally acclaimed SIYB training methodology and materials.

“After the successful introduction of the SIYB program to the Southern Province of Sri Lanka in 2000-2001, the ILO-SIYB project is now in a position to offer its services island-wide to local Business Development Services organizations,” a press release issued by the ILO-SIYB said.

The SIYB Sri Lanka has organised two information meetings to brief interested organizations about the project on February 28 at Hotel Ceylon Continental, Colombo and on March 1 at Queens Hotel in Kandy. More information can be obtained via e-mail: ak.siyblanka@itmin.com.
