Medical equipment worth USD100,000 to Jaffna

The United States government made a donation of Medical equipment worth over USD100,000 to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, the main hospital in the northern Sri Lanka, Monday.

The equipment included infant incubators, neo-natal resuscitators, electronic patient monitors, a diathermy machine and an operating theatre lamp.

The American Ambassador for Sri Lanka, Ashley Wills, who was on a two day visit to the Jaffna district with other members of his embassy staff said that the Jaffna peninsula has a pressing need for increased resources as it deals with challenges resulting from 18 years of conflict.
