New Cabinet Ministers sworn in
[February 28, 2002 - 9.15 GMT]

Eight non-cabinet ministers were sworn in as Cabinet Ministers before President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga at President’s House, Colombo, shortly after noon Thursday.

The new Cabinet now consists of thirty-two ministers. Minister S. B Dissanayake was sworn in as the Minister of Samurdhi. He will hold this portfolio in addition to his former portfolio as the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe was present on the occasion.
