ADB President to visit Sri Lanka
[March 2, 2002 - 6.30 GMT]

President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Mr. Tadao Chino will visit Sri Lanka from March 5-9. During the visit he is expected to sign a partnership agreement for poverty reduction between the ADB and Sri Lanka, the ADB announced Friday.

He will also inaugurate ADB's new resident mission office in the business district of Colombo. The ADB Chief will meet with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and hold discussions with key ministers and government officials on the crucial elements required in pursuing poverty reduction efforts in the country.

Proposals for economic reforms and plans for rehabilitation in the North and East will also feature in the discussions. 

The ADB President is also due to visit the ADB's project sites in Vavuniya, Dimbulagala, and Nuwara Eliya.
