Sri Lanka, venue for World Press Council conference

The World Association of Press Councils (WAPC) will conduct their Annual Conference in Sri Lanka this year.

Secretary General of the WAPC R. Gunasingham was recently in Sri Lanka to hold preliminary discussions and finalise the date of the conference.

Secretary to the Mass Communication Ministry, Kumar Abeysinghe said that the Conference was likely to be held in October this year.

Forty countries including Sri Lanka are members of the WAPC. The World Association of Press Councils has assisted many countries to change the structure of their Press Councils.
