Wilpattu Wild Life Park to be reopened
[March 9, 2002 - 8.00 GMT]

The Wilpattu National Park will soon be given a facelift and opened to the public, according to the Director of the Department of Wildlife Conservation.

The Wilpattu Park is one of Sri Lanka’s foremost wildlife reserves known for its large leopards and rare white deer. The park was closed for nearly seventeen years due to security reasons.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has appointed a committee to carry out a rehabilitation drive to upgrade the facilities in the park and to identify the immediate requirements.
