No-ball Holding and Bedi: BCCSL to ICC
[March 11, 2002 - 9.00 GMT]

Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) has called on the ICC to take action against recent allegations made against spinner Muttiah Muralitharan by Michael Holding and Bishen Bedi.

“We have written to the ICC asking them to take appropriate action regarding the matter”, Niresh Eliyathambi, Media Manager of the BCCSL told PRIU.

Michael Holding and Bishen Bedi were reported to have said that Muralitharan’s bowling action was illegal.

In May 1999, the ICC Advisory Panel on Illegal Deliveries pronounced that it had examined Muralitharan’s bowling action and found that there was no straightening of his arm. This Panel comprised members from South Africa, Pakistan, India, England, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, New Zealand and Australia.
