‘MOU has no legal validity’ says leading lawyer

One of Sri Lanka’s leading lawyers has said that the Ceasefire Agreement signed last month by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and LTTE Leader Velupillai Pirabaharan has no legal validity.

The article published in Saturday’s ‘The Island’, is perhaps the harshest scholarly criticism of the Agreement. De Silva, one time Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations is a President’s Counsel and is described as the 'doyen of the Bar on complex matters'.
