No. 1 of the Ceylon Gazette came into being on March 15, 1802 but ceased publications at No. 15011 in May 1972. It again started as No. 1 with the new Constitution in September 1978 and is available to the public in print as well as electronically. A postage stamp will be issued today to mark the event. Sri Lanka Institute of Printing in collaboration with the Department of Government Printing has organised an exhibition from 16 to 18 March to mark the 200 years of publishing the government gazette.
