Sarath Amunugama, Chief Opposition spokesman of the Peoples Alliance yesterday said that the country was crying for a strong opposition and the upcoming Local Government polls could be the first step towards creating a strong opposition. “People are fed up with the false promises that were given by the UNF to them,” complained Amunugama. Amunugama said that the power cut had been extended to 7 ˝ hours, the cost of living was sky-rocketing, not a single new single job had been created, the rupee further devalued and small traders were complaining that there was no business at all.
