Yamato Drummers to perform in Colombo

[April 3, 2002 - 10.00 GMT]

The world-renowned Wadaiko Yamato Drummers will perform in Colombo this month to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Japan.

The event will be held at the John de Silva Memorial Theatre in Colombo on 7th and 8th April.

Sri Lanka is the first destination of the troupe’s “Spirit Tour in South Asia 2002” which includes performances in India, Pakistan and India. 

The co-sponsors are the Japan Foundation and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs

Yamato founded by Masaaki Ogawa in 1993 in Nara, a city where Japanese culture is believed to have started has given more than 800 performances all over the world.
