Lester James Peries is 83 today

Sri Lanka’s veteran filmmaker, Dr. Lester James Peries celebrates his 83^rd birthday today. His contribution to Sri Lankan cinema will be acknowledged with a special stamp and a first day cover. 

'The World of Peries' a documentary film directed by India's Bikram Singh will also premiere today at the BMICH.

In 50 years of film-making Dr. Peiris has has directed 20 films.
