Murali flies out to London

Off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan left Colombo today to join his team-mates in England.

Muralitharan who suffered a dislocation and torn ligaments in his left shoulder while fielding in the Sharjah Cup 2002 final on April 17 returned from Australia Wednesday after specialised treatment.

The injury has ruled him out of the first Test, which began on Thursday at Lords.

While recuperating Muttiah Muralitharan was honoured in Australia for his achievement in reaching 400 Test Wickets in record time at a gala sponsored by Knox Tavern in Victoria on May 2.
