Goonetilleke, comprise the
official team representing the Government of Sri Lanka at the forthcoming
peace talks in Thailand, the Secretariat
for Coordinating the Peace Process (SCOPP) announced today. The
initial round of talks will take place September 16-18 at the Sattahip
Naval Base in Chonburi Province.
Fulfilling a key demand by the LTTE prior to the peace talks, the
Government lifted the ban on the LTTE from midnight September 4. Meanwhile Prime
Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe on Monday click-started the new “Peace in
Sri Lanka” website initiated by the Peace Secretariat. The website; www.peaceinsrilanka.org contains the history and background to the conflict, the progress of the present peace process, press releases and news.
