Peace team leaves for Thailand tomorrow

The Norwegian facilitated peace talks between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam will begin in Thailand on Monday. 

A delegation consisting of Ministers Prof. G. L. Peiris, Milinda Moragoda and Rauff Hakeem and Ambassador Bernard Gunatillake will take part in the first round of talks from September 16-18 at the Sattahip Naval Base. 

“We are greatly strengthened and encouraged by the enormous reservoir of goodwill that we have,” Prof. G. L. Peiris said today. 

Addressing the media he said that they (Government) want to bring a peace that will respect and uphold the rights and aspirations of all the citizens of the country.
