The third session of peace talks between the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was concluded in the Norwegian capital Oslo, on December 5 with both parties agreeing to explore a political solution founded on internal self-determination based on a federal structure within a united Sri Lanka. The parties acknowledged that the solution has to be acceptable to all communities. The talks which focused on three major areas; consolidation of the ceasefire, humanitarian and rehabilitation action and political matters, were “frank, open and constructive”, a statement from the Royal Norwegian Government said.
