Fire in Colombo claims ten

Ten people died in a blaze in a firecracker store in Central Colombo early Tuesday.

“Seventeen more were admitted to hospital,” a spokeswoman for the Colombo National Hospital said. She said that most of the injured had been discharged.

The fire at a firecracker store followed a blast, which gutted the building, and spread to several adjoining stores, a Colombo Fort Police official said.
