UN refuses to confirm Annan’s visit to Colombo

The United Nations has refused to confirm the Foreign Ministry’s announcement of Secretary General Kofi Annan’s visit to Colombo.

The Foreign Ministry on January 10 announced the Secretary General would be visiting Colombo late February.

Asked for his comments, Federic Eckhard, Spokesman for the UN Secretary General refused to confirm the Foreign Ministry’s announcement and said, “We have nothing to announce at this time concerning the Secretary-General’s possible visit to Sri Lanka.”
