NAM meets in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow [February 19, 2003 - 11.00 GMT]

The XIII Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit will be held from February 20-25, 2003, in Kuala Lumpur.

The Conference of Heads of States or Government is the highest decision-making authority of NAM. The Summit is normally held once in every three years.

The XIII NAM Summit is to be attended by Heads of State or Government, Ministers and Officials of the 114 Member States of the Movement, as well as by representatives of the Observer and Guest States of NAM.

The first Plenary Meeting will begin tomorrow. The Preparatory Ministerial Meeting will be held on February 22 and the Meeting of Heads of State and Government will begin on February 24.

The Meeting will adopt two main documents namely the Final Document, which will outline the common position of the Movement on various issues on its agenda and the Kuala Lumpur Declaration, which will focus on continuing the revitalization of the NAM, the theme of the Summit.
