The Sri Lanka Navy destroyed a suspected LTTE arms ship in the north-eastern seas off Mullativu Monday morning, an informed source revealed.

The source said that the Navy had received information about a suspicious ship in the area. “We asked them to stop and we even fired shots in the air,” the source said adding that the ship had at this stage fired at the Navy in return. The ship was blown up following the Navy’s firing.

Four Navy personnel were wounded in the confrontation.

When contacted the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission said they have informed the LTTE about the incident and were awaiting a response.
